Regaining Reason
This is my first foray into the wide world of blogging. I just finished reading Al Gore’s book The Assult on Reason. One of his major points is that country was founded on the idea of a well informed citizenry who participated in rational dialog about the issues facing the country and how the government should proceed. I was struck by the idea of how important it is to share my thoughts and views with others, and in turn hear and learn from theirs. I like to talk about science and politics with my friends but I thought I would take the step of starting a blog to more formally (although still not very formally) present my ideas and thoughts. I feel like this is a starting point for being more involved in a rational discussion of ideas and issues. I hope to be able to have interesting and thought-provoking debate and dialog with others, since that often seems to be missing in mainstream media. We’ll see how it goes.
